If you are looking for a good fraction wall, I just wanted you to know that there is an EXCELLENT fraction wall template page in the ActivInspire resource library. Go to Activities and Templates>Activities>Math activities.

You'll find some excellent ideas in there!

ReadWriteThink has some great interactives. Click here to see. Many work great on an interactive whiteboard. Starfall is also good.

A music video can be great fun if you can get them to write the script and storyboard. I showed some kids some basic video editing techniques once in a middle school. And from that short 2 hour demonstration, they did a video book report (reenactment) of All Quiet on the Western Front. It was AMAZING! Better than the original movie. I cried when I saw it! So proud of them! It got in the paper. (Now I'll have to go on YouTube and see if they ever uploaded it. Not sure YouTube existed back then!)

There is a new Activtip video called Fill Tool and Teeny Spaces. It allows you to fill a PORTION of a word with a color or even extract a PORTION of a word. Here is the flipchart used to film that video!

I know we have a fair amount of Librarians on Promethean Planet, maybe they're a bit shy? :-)

We do also have a 'Library & Media Center' theme on Planet, which gives lots of useful links to library related resources, so in some way, it gives you an idea on what other people are doing, lesson wise.

In the Zone is the Wellcome Trust’s major NEW initiative inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It provides a fun, free and fascinating way of using science to discover how our bodies work during sport, activity, movement and rest.

The website is aimed at both primary and secondary schools with two different sections. Both sections contain interactive games which can be used on the interactive whiteboard. Teachers packs are available for download containing lesson plans, worksheets and ideas for science investigations. It’s a great free resource.

If you're a UK school, keep an eye out for some free materials that are being sent to every school in the Spring.

Hi Folks

I am creating a Promethean Planet User Group called Mathematics, as a forum for sharing knowledge and questions about the use of technology in the Maths classroom. While the group is hosted by Promethean, the user group is about the wider use of technology in the Maths classroom, and not just the Promethean products.

I currently manage the tinspire googlegroups discussion list (for the TI-Nspire graphics calculator), and I belong to a number of other lists and forums. For me, these are the best professional development available - I learn so much from my colleagues.

Now .... initially I would like the user group to include a relatively small number of teachers who have experience in using technology in the Maths classroom. I would like input on the structure of the user group (eg which forums) and also assistance in identifying and solving any teething problems.
