Re: New YouTube for Schools!

New YouTube for Schools!

Not Answered This question is not answered
This information was shared by Jim Sill, Google Apps trainer and Apple Distinguished teacher. Our district is moving ahead with the new Youtube for schools (see below). Finally, a solution from Google. The helpful hints page for embedding Youtube is very valuable. Google wants your viewer to go to Youtube through your embedded video. This is the problem.

At the end of your embedded Youtube video, you might get a surprise (a suggested video that you don't want) Add "&rel=0" and the suggested videos don't appear:

Yes, one of the major drawbacks about using Youtube is the referenced videos.  One way to stop this is to embed a youtube video and add "&rel=0" (without the quotes) to the end of the Youtube URL.  While it won't stop them from clicking through to Youtube, it will stop that booty shaking video from showing up on your webpage.  Check out this page for more helpful hints: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/10-youtube-url-tricks-you-should-know-about/

Also, your school might want to look into the newly released www.youtube.com/schools.  Its sole purpose to stop the problem you are having.
