Planet Guide

Welcome to the Planet Guide. In this section you'll find FAQ's and other helpful information to assist you in getting started with Promethean Planet and our new site. We're continually updating information, so please come back often!

What do the "Resource Type" categories on Planet mean?

When you upload a resource to Planet, you are asked to categorize it by resource type. This enables Planet members to narrow down their search results to return only the resources of one or more type(s), such as lesson plans.

We currently categorize resources into 11 different types. Each resource category is explained below.

Assemblies (Only available on UK and International English versions of Planet.)

Planning documents and other resources that will help teachers and other educators to give engaging assemblies.

Collections & Assets

Individual assets (e.g. images, audio files, videos or templates) or collections of assets focused around a topic/theme (e.g. resource packs).

Games

Educational games (e.g. software, card games and board games) that can be used to review or expand concepts, reinforce development and/or assist in learning a skill.

Homework & Assignments

Tasks for students to complete predominantly outside of class.

Lesson Plans

Roadmaps for teachers that contain all the required information to give a lesson. Other planning documents, such as schemes of work, should also be tagged under this category.

Lessons & Instructional Materials

Instructional resources that may be designed for a single teaching period or for a longer unit of study, covering one or more learning objective(s). May include standalone activities or supporting material for teacher-led presentations.

Professional Development

Resources designed to aid educators in their professional development.

Projects

Resources structured to allow students to engage in a piece of work (containing one or more element) over an extended period of time.

Questions, Quizzes & Tests

  • How do teachers submit flipcharts for the Promethean Planet Store?

  • @Kristina - Teachers do not submit resources to the Planet Store. The items in the Store have been created by publishers.
