You can also use the Screen Recorder tool in ActivInspire to record a lesson or explanation and save it as a video clip which you should be able to save on a network on load to a learning management system and access from the iPad.

Thank you Lisa's for trying to help me. It has been a week and I still don't have an answer from Promethean. I am running Windows XP and my driver is x86 v5.7 and I have the latest version of the software. If somebody at your company cares I need some help.

I'm having a big problem during self-paced question assessments. The students are experiencing long delays (sometimes up to a few minutes) in between screen changes, many of the clickers will freeze, and many shut off. It was working fine until I updated the drivers and the activhub; the software is already updated. I went through and tried updating everything I could find, and it didn't solve the problem.

You may have to navigate to where the ActivInspire resources are located. I'm on a Mac so I don't think they are in the same place on a PC but if I recall correctly, you need to choose a folder, not the specific sound file. (Like Animals) Then all of the animal sounds will show up in the drop down list for you to select from.

So there should be a folder called Sounds and inside that folder should be several other folders including Animals.

Which version do you have? Version 1 (keys like cell phone) or version 2 (Full QWERTY style)?

Hello Promethean Planet!

Does anyone know what the specifications are for the black gaps around the image on the board? I have a mobile 387 and my picture doesnt fill the screen completely. I have played with all the resolutions on my computer and the picture fits well, but not the entire board. I have also tried different keystones, but that does not get the image fully fitted either. I would expect that there is to be some gaps, but I am interested to know what the acceptable amount of space is. If anyone knows what the accepetable specifications for gaps are, I would appreciated the info.

I am running ActivInspire (version 1.6.47432)on a MacBook with OS 10.7.2. When I try to record a lesson using the Fullscreen record feature within ActivInspire, all that records is the sound. I have a movie with narration and a black screen. Has anyone else reported this issue when using ActivInspire with MAC's Lion? If so, what is the fix?

Sometimes you have to se your default settings to open .flp files with ActivInspire. Have you tried that?

You just select personal edition when you start Inspire after installation, simple as that.

A combination of good pedagogy and effective use of the board will have students highly involved in the STEM lesson.

Below are some suggestions for activities that ensure student involvement:

1. Choose engaging tasks

a. Brainstorming

b. Problem solving

c. Debating

d. Voting

e. Classifying

f. Finding a correct answer

2. Engage students in higher-order thinking activities

a. Formulate hypotheses/defend them

b. Analyze problems and answers

c. Select an answer choice and defend it

d. Present non-linguistic representations and allow students to create hypotheses

e. Allow students to teach (or reteach) a concept

f. Allow students to identify similarities and differences of a given concept

g. Allow students to summarize, to their small groups, the concept presented

h. Have students "discover" the lesson's objectives

i. Use graphic organizers to brainstorm, organize, and create ideas

j. Let students "discover" answers

k. Arrange events in order

3. Create all lessons with student participation in mind

Forum Post: Cannot Enable Multi Touch On 500 Series Board

We have the 500 series promethean board and we love the touch feature that enables you to manipulate the board without the use of a pen. We use it with our Preschoolers who also enjoy the board very much.

However we seem to be having trouble with the multi-touch feature. We've taken a course on PrometheanPlanet and have followed what tips we could find about editing the profiles to full touch and what not but still our board only allows for one user to manipulate the board at a time. We even questioned a Promethean Expert who came to give a workshop on how to use the remotes and express poll accessories. He told us that in order to use the multi touch we needed to download the apps noteboard and touchpad but after succesfully installing these we still cannot use the multi-touch.

We are the only ones in our district that have the 500 series board so no one can offer us any help or tips. Not being able to use the feature is not a terrible inconvenience we look at it as the cup being half full and use it to teach patience and sharing since the kids have to wait their turn to draw or participate in manipulating the flip charts we've created for it but the multi-touch is the main reason we specifically asked for the 500 series board in the first place.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions as to how we could enable the Multi-Touch feature we would very much appreciate it.
