Regular maintenance can help maximize projector efficiency and keep it running smoothly, allowing school personnel to focus on development and delivery of engaging interactive lessons.

10 Simple Tips to Ensure Optimal Projector Performance

Tip #1: Projector should be turned on 5 minutes prior to intended use.

Tip #2: Lamp mode should be set at “normal” except for in exceptional circumstances.

Tip #3: Projector filter and casing should be cleaned regularly and filters should be replaced as necessary.

– Do not remove filters for cleaning while the projector is running or hot or blow compressed air into the projector casing or vents.

Tip #4: Environmental factors can affect projector components and user manuals should be reviewed to determine appropriate settings.

– For DLP projectors high humidity areas may require added attention, consult the user manual.
– DLP projectors do not have a filter fitted as standard, but in some instances where the environment is extremely dusty or humid, an optional filter can be fitted.
– The default fan speed in LCD projectors should be adjusted based on the altitude the unit is used in, consult the user manual.

Tip #5: Cleaning/Replacement of filters is different in every school and classroom. A cleaning schedule should be determined by monitoring the frequency of dust accumulation on filters.

Tip #6: For PRM30 model projectors, if visibility through the assembly is completely obstructed when the filter is held up to the light, it should be replaced.

Tip #7: Projector should always be powered off using the remote control, not the electrical wall switch or by unplugging the power.  Do not cut the power to the projector until the lamp cool down cycle is complete.

– Once you power down your projector, wait at least  10 minutes before you power it back up to avoid damaging the lamp.

Tip #8: Promethean recommends that Power Management is set to “Shutdown Mode” on LCD Projectors– Please consult the User Manual or articles 10706 and 10707 at www.PrometheanKB.com for guidance.

Tip #9: Projector should be turned to Standby when it is out of use for a period of time greater than 30 minutes.  Note: The “No Show” and “Blank” function are not the same as “Standby” and should not be used for extended periods of time.

Tip #10: After turning the projector to standby, it should never be turned back on immediately; wait approximately 30 minutes.

Whether using an LCD or DLP projector, Promethean recommends that the user manual is always carefully reviewed for instruction before conducting any cleaning or maintenance.
