Question Delay

Answered (Verified) This question is answered

I'm having a big problem during self-paced question assessments.  The students are experiencing long delays (sometimes up to a few minutes) in between screen changes, many of the clickers will freeze, and many shut off.  It was working fine until I updated the drivers and the activhub; the software is already updated.  I went through and tried updating everything I could find, and it didn't solve the problem.

Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Joe,

Please ensure that ActivInspire is current (1.6.47432) ActivDriver (5.7.22.1) firmware on the ActivHub (5.12) firmware on Expression (9.02b33 or later). If all the above are current, clear your temp folder if you are on a Windows computer, and also clear the "users" temp folder as well and restart your computer. (case# 147630)

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Ana,

I checked and everything is updated.  In fact, I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it, then checked for updates.  It's all updated.  I cleared the two folders that you mentioned and restarted the computer.  After doing all of these, the clickers are much faster; however, they shut off frequently.  On a 10 question quiz, they shut off on an average of three times per person.  Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • Joe,

There is an "Auto Off" setting on the devices that you can change to allow the devices to stay on for longer periods of time. If the devices is idle for a certain amount of time they will shut off, to change the setting, with the device on select Menu/ Setup and you will see the "Auto Off" option, you can change the amount of time you would like the devices to stay on there.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Ana,

Thanks for the prompt response.  I'm aware of the "Auto Off" function on the clickers.  This was not the problem during the quiz.  The clickers were shutting off about three times each during the quiz, which took under five minutes.  I'll try again and see if it improves.  Let me know if you have any more suggestions.

    Thanks,

    Joe
