Forum Post: How do I change ActivSlate "sleep" time?

I just got an ActivSlate to use in my room. My space is too small for a board, so I use the software with a projector and the ActivSlate only.

However, at the moment it's driving me crazy because it's going to sleep way too quickly. How do I change the time that it will stay away before going to sleep?

Michael,

I work at ETI www.enhancedtechnologyinstallations.com. I was just browsing through here to see if anyone was looking for Certified Promethean Board Installations. I came upon your question and thought I might be able to help you.

What exactly have you checked on the cables? Are the cables good? have you plugged all the cables into other projectors to see if you get the same results? One of the things we do as Technicians is make sure that everything is tight, if still not working we check the cable connection with another projector.

If it is working on another projector then it could be a bad cable, unfortunately i doubt you have cable testers. Because you had your board installed by Certified Promethean Installers you are covered for an additional 2 years on the warranty. You may need to escalate the issue to Customer Support.

If you can let me know what you have done so far (tried new cables, checked all connections ect) I can better help you.

I have an ActivBoard With ActivInspire. But my PC is crashed and ActivInspire is full deleted. I have redownloaded it but the serial of my ActivBoard doesn't work anymore. Can anybody help?

I have a slate that was working just fine until yesterday. It now displays Slate ?? in the small display window, and cannot be registered. I tried charging it and it did not help.

Drivers are all current, as well.

Yes, I can confirm that running the downloaded .exe with /a will trigger the network install. I will test it later this afternoon, but it should be the same, just keep you hardware, help, and other network deployments from the previous version.

My board continually stops working and I have to deregister it and re-register it to get it to work. I updated my hub and software but not the firmware for the board. When I tried to do this your info on the download page said to contact you if my slate firmware was 101 b22. Well it does. What is my next step to update the firmware?

I have all versions and updates to .Net installed and managed by a WUS server.

I have Office 2010, latest SP, and all updates installed and managed by WUS server.

Adobe Reader is version 10.1.2.

Adobe Flas is version 11.1.102.55.

My lisence key for ActivOffice was entered when creating the Network Install.

We have just tested this using an iPad with the latest IOS 5.0.1 and logged in successfully.

Can we suggest clearing the cookies and data in the Safari section of settings and making sure that cookies are enabled.

I am having trouble importing quality slides from PowerPoint to ActivInspire.

When I import as objects, the objects are out of format.

When I import as images, the images are fuzzy and difficult for my students to read.

Is there a better way to import quality PowerPoint slides into ActivInspire?

adobe ".... cannot read this file... error" Adobe should not be the application used to open the file. Below is the link to update your software, you want to ensure that you save the file to your downloads folder and then run it by double clicking on the file while it is in your downloads folder. Do you get the message "ActivInspire has to quit" every time that you open the software or only when you try to edit the database? Are you on a Windows or Mac? What version of ActivInspire are you running? (case# 148137)

Hi Ana,

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm aware of the "Auto Off" function on the clickers. This was not the problem during the quiz. The clickers were shutting off about three times each during the quiz, which took under five minutes. I'll try again and see if it improves. Let me know if you have any more suggestions.

You want to ensure that when you are following the steps above that you have "permissions" or are signed in as an administrator on the computer, so that you have access to all the locations that we are . Are you on a Windows computer as well? Have you cleared the temp folder and restarted the computer? (case# 148132)

Is this your personal computer or school computer? If it is a school computer then it may be you not have "permission" to install any drivers on the computer and you will need to contact your IT person for assistance.

If it is your personal computer are you saving the file and then running it? Do you get any error messages?

try changing which program .flipchart files open with by default, this may be set to firefox for some reason

On windows right click the file and choose open with & choose inspire and set it as the default program. If you are on mac I'm hoping that someone else will jump in and give you the steps as I can't remember!

Glad it helped. ActivInspire is quite different from Activstudio. It may take some getting used to but like everything, take time and it will grow on you. The browsers (page notes, resources, property, item) are the biggest and best change (to me!)

Try watching the Activtips videos (located under professional development) to see some of the coolest features of ActivInspire.) I'd start by scrolling to the bottom of the list of videos and watching from bottom up as the original Activtips were more focused on changes from Activstudio to ActivInspire and watching from newest first might be confusing or overwhelming.

There are also some free online courses with tutorials.
